The most expensive item at the auction was three shipments of antique iron pieces. Seven offers have been submitted for the purchase of all three. Of this, the conserved value of a shipment of 6 18-ton containers was Tk 2.29 million rupees. The highest bidder for this shipment is an organization called IN International. No one participated in the auction despite the fact that remittances such as dates, different types of clothes and hangers were taken.
There is no guarantee of getting the product if you are the highest bidder. The highest bidders will be able to take the exchange only after the auction committee gives its approval after verification and selection.
Faisal Bin Rahman, Chittagong Deputy Customs Commissioner, who is in charge of the auction, told Prothom Alo that, for the first time, a good response has been received as an online auction. Steps have been taken to correct the problems identified in the first auction. The great advantage of the online auction is that anyone from any part of the country can participate according to the rules.
The auction will take place both online and traditionally on Thursday. After eliminating the errors online, the customs house aims to take the traditional method and auction it completely online.
