On the night of July 31, Commander (retired) Sinha was shot dead by police at the Shamlapur checkpoint as he was returning to Nilima Resort in the Himchhari area of Cox’s Bazar on Marine Drive on Marishbunia Hill in Teknaf . At that time, the police arrested Sifat who was with Sinha and sent him to jail. Shipra was later detained at the compound. Both are currently out on bail.
A case was filed at the Teknaf Model Police Station on behalf of the police. Sinha was charged in that case. Later, on October 5, Sinha’s sister filed a case against OC Pradeep Kumar Das, Inspector Liaquat Ali, SI Nandadulal Rakshita and nine other policemen. After that, 6 policemen, including OC Pradeep, surrendered to the court. Later, seven policemen, including OC Pradeep, were arrested in the case brought by Sinha’s sister. There are currently 14 defendants in the Sinha murder case, including Officer Rubel Sharma.
The previous 13 defendants were OC Pradeep Kumar Das, Inspector Liaquat Ali, SI Nandadulal Rakshit, SI Liton Mia, Agents Safanur Karim, Kamal Hossain and Abdullah Al Mamun, three members of APBN SI Md. Shahjahan, Sheriff. Rajiv and Md. Abdullah and three others, Nurul Amin, Nizam Uddin and Mohammad Ayas from the village of Marishbunia in Teknaf. They are all in jail.
