He said data was being collected on the illicit assets of MP Haji Selim and his son Irfan Selim. If all of these are listed in the ACC Act, then it will be investigated.
“If the illegal assets are related to the ACC program and include planned crimes, we will investigate and appropriate action will be taken later in the ACC Act.”
Commissioner Mozammel said action would be taken if government land or property was confiscated, if covered by the ACC Law.
On Wednesday, the RAB filed two cases under the Weapons and Narcotics Act against Irfan Selim, a fired ward councilman from Dhaka South City Corporation, son of Dhaka-6 MP Haji Selim. Irfan’s bodyguard, Mohammad Zahid, has also been charged in two separate cases.
Irfan and Zahid were arrested in a raid on Devi Das Lane’s home in Soarighat, Old Dhaka on Monday.
Irfan and Zahid were sentenced to one year in prison by a RAB mobile court on Monday after they searched Haji Selim’s home and found alcohol and a walkie-talkie after beating a naval officer.
