For this reason, Lal Khan, a resident of Kalia village in the Kauljani junction of Nana upazila, brought Nur Nahar home at the age of four from Nalua Kalabagan village in neighboring upazila. Then get him admitted to school. This year Nur Nahar was studying in the eighth grade at the Kalia government primary school. As Nana was also poor, she married Nur Nahar on September 20 to expatriate Rajib Khan, son of Abdur Rashid from Fulki Paschimpara village in upazila. Later, when his condition deteriorated, Nur Nahar’s family admitted him to Mirzapur Kumudini Hospital. The poor family had no money to care for him then. Nur Nahar was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital by his family for better treatment after local villagers donated around Rs 70,000. He died Saturday night (October 24) while undergoing treatment there.
Nana Lal Khan from Nur Nahar said: “I brought Nur Nahar to my home at a young age due to lack of son-in-law. He was teaching him with day laborers. As the son is expatriate and wealthy, we married Nur Nahar. Her bleeding started a few days after the marriage. For this, Nur Nahar’s mother-in-law was giving her the medicine from Kabiraj village. He was later admitted to the hospital if there was excessive bleeding. Doctors said Nur Nahar was bleeding from her genitals due to her early marriage. In the end, we couldn’t save him anymore. After her death, Nur Nahar’s husband, Rajib, did not go to see her body. My granddaughter died mainly because of her husband.
Heresy husband Rajiv Khan Nur Nahar’s uncle, Lutfar Khan, said the matter had been reported to the police. The case is being prepared.
Zakir Hossain, an assistant teacher at the Kalia government primary school, said: “We regularly ask about the students.” But suddenly his family secretly married Nur Nahar. Upazila Nirbahi (UNO) Officer Shamsun Nahar Swapna said an eighth grade student had died as a result of child marriage. The matter is extremely sad. Child marriage must be eradicated socially, not just by law.
The officer in charge of the Basail (OC) police station, Harunur Rashid, said he had not received any written complaints about the incident. The matter is under investigation. Legal action will be taken after receiving the autopsy report.
