The Bangladesh Islamic Movement has protested in Dhaka against the exhibition of satirical cartoons on Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) in France. However, due to police obstruction, the group was unable to surround the French embassy. The police blocked the procession to the embassy at the Shantinagar crossing. The group asked the government to issue a formal condemnation of France.
The leaders and supporters of the Islamic Movement marched from Baitul Mukarram to the French embassy on Tuesday morning to protest the insult to the Prophet. The procession was led by Amir and Charmonai Pir Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim. Thousands of party leaders and workers participated in the program. The protesters chanted anti-French slogans and demanded that the government issue a formal condemnation of France.
