Earlier, at a short rally held at the north gate of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, speakers raised various demands, including the severing of Bangladesh’s diplomatic relations with France, the passage of a condemnation motion in Parliament and the expulsion of the French Embassy of Bangladesh. Speakers threatened strict action if demands were not met.

A 17-year-old beheaded a school teacher on the outskirts of the French capital, Paris, on October 17. The school teacher was killed by a young man who was angry at the students for showing a controversial cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Later, the French government awarded the schoolmaster the country’s highest posthumous award and began displaying the controversial cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in various buildings. French President Emmanuel Macron ordered state-sponsored cartoons.

The protests against these events led to the boycott of French products in several countries of the Muslim world, including the Arabian Gulf. The country has called on Arab countries to end the boycott, fearing that the current situation in Corona could have a detrimental effect on the boycott.
