Dhaka: District 30 Councilor Mohammad Irfan Selim, son of Dhaka-6 MP Haji Selim, has been sentenced by a mobile RAB court to 18 months in prison for drug possession and illegal possession of a walkie-talkie.
Lt. Col. Ashiq Billah, director of the RAB’s media and legal wing, confirmed the matter on Monday (October 26).
He said that a mobile court had sentenced Councilor Mohammad Irfan Selim to one year in prison for using drugs and six months in prison for keeping an illegal walkie-talkie and another month in prison if he did not pay the 50,000 taka fine. Haji Selim’s son, Ifran Selim, was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
During the raid on Irfan’s house in Old Dhaka on Monday, the executive magistrate of the RAB headquarters. Sarwar Alam handed down the sentence through a mobile court.

In Dhanmondi, MP Haji Selim’s car was run over by the motorcycle of a Navy officer, Lieutenant Wasim, and he was brutally beaten by some people in the car. Wasim, a naval officer, was injured in the beating.
Wasim, a naval officer, filed a lawsuit against four people, including Mohammad Irfan Selim, son of MP Haji Selim.
Following the case, RAB identified the whereabouts of Irfan Selim, the son of Haji Mohammad Selim, at his home at around 12:30 pm on Monday. Later, RAB Irfan and his bodyguard said. He was able to arrest Zahid.
