In the next few days, the internet may slow down a bit. Imdadul Haque, general secretary of ISPAB, an organization of Internet service providers in the country, said the problem could be due to the repair of an undersea cable (transmission link) in the country.
He told the Bengali Tribune on Monday (Oct 26).
However, neither of the country’s two submarine cables had problems. If there is a problem with a submarine cable in another country, it may need to be repaired in Bangladesh, the link of which is said to be used by several IIGs in the country.
Several IIGs (International Internet Gateways) in the country use the Chennai to Twaz (Singapore) route as an alternative transmission link. The submarine cable is owned by the Indian company Airtel. The link will be repaired from Monday (October 26) until next Saturday (October 31). During this period, the Internet speed of the country’s IIGs using that route may decrease somewhat. Not be a problem for others.
Imdadul Haque, ISPAB Secretary General, said: While there is no problem with normal work, online gaming and international real-time transactions can be a bit slow.
He said that some IIGs in the country use the link from Chennai (India) to Twaz (Singapore) for low latency. It takes less time to get the file on that path. Because, due to the low latency, some IIGs in the country have a circuit on that link. As a result, the link is very popular.
