Councilor Irfan, the son of the ruling Dhaka-6 party deputy Haji Selim, and his bodyguard are being taken to the central jail. Formerly the son and ward councilor of Haji Selim. Irfan Selim was sentenced to one year in prison by a mobile court.
Sources from the central jail told Jugantar Kejana on Monday night that preparations were made at the jail starting at 6 pm. They learned that Irfan will be taken to jail. However, he was unable to confirm whether he would be taken to the Central Prison or the Kashimpur Prison.
RAB Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam handed him the sentence Monday night. Irfan’s bodyguard said at the time. Jahidul was also sentenced to one year in Islam.
Judicial sources said the punishment was for possession and use of drugs and illegal walkie-talkies. RAB raided Irfan’s house from 12 noon until late at night.
According to the RAB, an unlicensed foreign pistol, ammunition, an air pistol, 40 walkie-talkies, a wife, and foreign liquor and beer were seized from the building.
At the site, the fourth and fifth floors of the house at 26 Devidas Ghat Lane in Chawkbazar were seen to have been built in a duplex system. Irfan Selim, MP’s son, lived in the fourth floor room in North Corner.
A foreign pistol loaded with clips was found under the mattress in his bedroom. In addition, 56 wireless VPS systems (virtual private servers) and 40 walkie-talkie kits, a wife, a gun, bottles of foreign liquor, and beer were found in the east corner of the fifth floor.
RAB Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam said the equipment and firearms were kept in the same condition as they were for the forensic report.
According to the RAB, the arrested Irfan Mohammad Selim is the son-in-law of Ekramul Karim Chowdhury, a councilor for the 30th district of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and a deputy for the Noakhali-4 constituency.
By the way, on Sunday night (October 25) near the Kalabagan crossing in Dhanmondi, the vehicle of the Dhaka-6 MP Haji Mohammad Selim collided with the motorcycle of the Navy officer, Lieutenant Wasif Ahmed Khan. After that, Irfan Selim and his men got out of the car and beat the officer named Lieutenant Wasim.
The vehicle with the MP’s sticker and the naval officer’s motorcycle were seized at the Dhanmondi police station around 10:15 pm. A case was presented at the Dhanmondi Police Station on Monday morning at 8 a.m.
