RAB has found another torture cell of Irfan Selim, son of MP Haji Selim in the Chawkbazar area of the capital. Binoculars, hockey sticks, sticks, human bones, ropes, yaba reels and other equipment were found in the torture cell.
On Monday night, RAB raided the 18th floor of the Maidina Ashiq Tower in Chawkbazar. During the operation, a torture cell was found in a large room. Earlier in the evening, the RAB spokesman, Lieutenant. A. Ashiq Billah told reporters that the RAB found a torture cell in Chawkbazar next to the home of MP Haji Selim. At the same time, he said, Haji Selim’s son, councilor Irfan Selim and his associate Zahidul Islam were sentenced to one year in rigorous prison by a mobile RAB court. A mobile court headed by RAB Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam sentenced two to one year in rigorous prison for drugs and illegal possession of walkie-talkies. Ashiq Billah said the RAB would file two cases against Haji Selim for weapons and drugs recovered from his home.
Irfan, son of Haji Mohammad Selim, a deputy from the ruling party of the Dhaka-6 constituency, has been sentenced to six months and one year in jail in two cases for possession of illegal weapons and drugs. His bodyguard, Jahidul Islam, was also sentenced to six months and one year in prison.
The mobile court of RAB Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam handed down the sentence on Monday.
Ashik Tower is a 16-story building. It is the largest building in Old Dhaka. The Medina Developer office, owned by Haji Selim, is on the 16th floor of the building. Above this is the torture cell on the roof.
