Irfan, son of Haji Mohammad Selim, a deputy from the ruling party of the Dhaka-6 constituency, has been sentenced to six months and one year in jail in two cases for possession of illegal weapons and drugs. In addition, his bodyguard, Jahidul Islam, was also sentenced to six months and one year in prison.

The mobile court of RAB Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam handed down the sentence on Monday.

Lt. Col. Ashiq Billah, director of the RAB’s media and legal wing, told reporters at a briefing on Monday night.

“We have conducted our operations on the basis of specific information and indications,” he said. We will take the corresponding legal actions after carrying out the operation ”. He said that Haji Selim was not at home during the operation.

RAB spokesman Colonel Ashiq Billah said: “We will present two cases against him.” One under the Gun Law and the other under the Drug Law. Then we will deliver it to the appropriate police station and send it to jail.

Previously, the RAB recovered a large quantity of security equipment, including firearms, liquor, beer and walkie-talkies during a raid on Haji’s home.

RAB began operations at 12:30 pm on Monday. Mohammad Irfan Selim, the son of a deputy, was arrested during a raid on his home at Devidas Ghat Lane, No. 26, Chawkbazar. At the same time, items from the house were recovered. The operation was led by Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam.

It was seen in the survey that the fourth and fifth floors of the house at 27 Devidas Ghat Lane in Chawkbazar have been built in duplex system. MP’s son Irfan Selim lived in the fourth floor room in the north corner.

A foreign pistol loaded with clips was found under the mattress in his bedroom. In addition, 56 wireless ABS systems and 40 walkie-talkie kits, a wife, a pistol, a bottle of foreign liquor, and beer were found in the east corner of the fifth floor.

RAB Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam said these equipment and firearms were not kept in the same condition as they were for the forensic report.
