The Vice Chancellor of Rajshahi University, Professor M Abdus Sobhan, has demanded a judicial investigation into the accusations against him and has requested the Prime Minister’s intervention in the matter. At the same time, he described the research report from the University Grants Commission (UGC) as “partial” and “partial.”

The vice chancellor said this at a press conference held at the university’s Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Senate Building at 11 a.m. Sunday. Discussions and criticism emerged from various quarters after news of the UGC investigative report was published in various outlets, including Prothom Alo, last Thursday. In this context, the press conference was organized.

Regarding the allegation of changing the ‘Teacher Recruitment Policy’ for the appointment of his daughter-in-law, the vice chancellor said that, according to media reports, if the UGC investigation committee had made ‘comments that the vice chancellor has formulated a policy for the appointment of daughters-in-law ‘, the investigation was not impartial. In accordance with the 2017 policy, a notification was published for the appointment of professors in 24 departments. Although the hiring process for six departments has been completed, no objections or complaints have been filed against this policy for any quarter. Basically, some corrupt teachers on behalf of progressive teachers have conspired to destabilize the university by making false accusations in the conspiracy of the anti-independence clique to cover up their misdeeds.
