On Sunday morning, the span named ‘2A’ was successfully placed at poles 6 and 7 on the Mawa side.

41 spans will be placed on 42 posts on the 6.15 km long double-decker Padma bridge.

Padma Bridge Dewan Executive Engineer. Abdul Quader said that at 4pm on Saturday, a specialized ‘Tian E’ crane took a span from the Mawa Kumarbhog construction yard to the designated pillar.

When the crane reached pillars 6 and 7 in the middle of the river after crossing a distance of about two kilometers, daylight was almost over. The section was not installed that day due to lack of light.

The floating light ship was anchored near posts 6 and 7.

Installation work on the section began on Sunday morning. The span is then pressed into place and measured inch by inch and placed on the post.

Previously, on October 19, segment number 33 was passed at poles number 3 and 4. Section 32 was placed at poles 4 and 5 on October 11.

So far this month three spans have been placed in the posts.

Stretch 35 will be installed on the banks of the Padma in Mawa on October 30. The other six tranches are expected to climb the poles in December this year.

Construction of the Padma Bridge began in December 2014. When the first span was placed on posts 36 and 38 on September 30, 2016, the Padma Bridge became visible. Then 33 spans were placed one by one.

The length of each Spain is 150 meters. The 6.15 km long Padma Bridge will be built by placing 41 spans in 42 piers. All poles are visible.

China Major Bridge Engineering Company (MBEC), a Chinese contractor, is working on the construction of the main bridge, and Sino Hydro Corporation, another Chinese company, is working on managing the river.

Abdul Momen Limited from Bangladesh has built two roads and connecting infrastructure.

The structure of the bridge is being built with concrete and steel.

The multipurpose bridge is expected to open in 2021 after the completion of the two-story Padma Bridge.
