A young man who identified himself as Kabiraj has been charged with raping a young woman in Sreepur, Gazipur.
The girl has filed a lawsuit against Kabiraj at the Sreepur Police Station. The incident took place in the Nayanpur area of upazila on Tuesday.
Sreepur OC Khandaker Imam Hossain Police Station, citing the case, said the victim worked in a local garment factory. About two and a half months ago, the victim, a garment worker, rented a house in the Nayanpur area of the Mauna Union of the Upazila.
Abul Hashem, who introduced himself as Kabiraj, also rents the house. He became acquainted with the victim as they rented the same house. Abul Hashem called the victim at his home at 11 am last Tuesday.
The Kabiraj informed him who or what had hit the victim. Then no marriage proposal comes. To do this, the victim is asked to fill a glass with water. The victim believed her, drank water and went home.
After drinking water, his physical condition deteriorated. Soon after, Abul Hashem took her out of the victim’s house, took her to a nearby room, locked the door, and raped her.
Subsequently, the victim opened the door, left the house and began to cry. Abul Hashem threatened to kill the victim if he told someone about the incident. When the victim’s uncle went to the house, Abul Hashem left. He later discussed the entire incident with his relatives and presented a case.
Abul Hashem, who identified the defendant Kabiraj, has been on the run since the case was filed. The OC said efforts were being made to arrest him.
