21 people, including children, have been admitted to the hospital after falling ill after eating milad mahfil tabarak at a mosque in Bhola’s Monpura Dwip Upazila. They were admitted to the Monpura Upazila Health Complex after falling ill one after another since Friday night. Three of the children were taken to Bhola Sadar Hospital in critical condition.
The people admitted to the hospital are Jalal Ahmed (40), Amir Hossain (18), Md. Nahid Islam (5), Md. Hasnain Ahmed (13), Bayazid Hawladar (2), Mehedi Hasan (11), Md. Tuhin (2), Shihab Uddin (15), Abu Bakkar Siddique (18), Md. Mamunur Rahman (14), Md. Sumon (13), Sonia Akhter (18), Abdullah (10), Jharna Begum (25), Tamanna Akhter (18), Fatema Begum (4), Md. Hossain (21), Sabbir Ahmed (2), Abdul Aziz (40), Abdul Karim (4) and Apan Islam (3). They all live in the Charfayjuddin and Bhuiyanhat villages of Hazirhat, a union of the Upazila.
Mashiur Rahman, a residential doctor from the Monpura Upazila Health Complex, said they had vomited and had thin stools due to food poisoning. They began to be admitted to the health complex from 7:00 p.m. on Friday. 21 people were admitted until 10 at night. They were given saline solution and injections. The condition of the three children has deteriorated and their parents have taken them to Bhola Sadar Hospital.
