Dhaka: Opposition leader in Jatiya Sangsad Raushan Ershad has expressed deep sorrow over the death of high-ranking Supreme Court lawyer and former Attorney General Barrister Rafiq-ul Haq.
He expressed his grief in a message sent to the media on Saturday (October 24).
In his message of condolence, the opposition leader said: “Attorney Rafiq-ul Haq was a shining star in the legal arena of this country. He has played a courageous role throughout his life as a fearless advocate in establishing democracy, good governance, and protecting the independence and image of the judiciary.
His valuable advice and guidance on many important constitutional and legal issues during the country’s transition period has helped make the right decision. Many of his achievements lie behind the life of this attorney at the peak of his fame. She is a unique social worker.
The opposition leader further said that although lawyer Rafiq-ul Haq was not involved in politics, he had never been involved in politics in his professional life. But all politicians have been attracted to him. His contribution will be remembered by compatriots with deep appreciation and respect. The death of this wise lawyer caused irreparable damage to the nation.
The Leader of the Opposition prayed for the forgiveness of the deceased’s soul and conveyed his deepest condolences to the grieving relatives.
