The president of the Narsingdi Raipura Upazila Chhatra League, Asadul Haque Chowdhury Shakil, has been accused of raping a 10th-year student.
The victim’s father filed a lawsuit against Asadul Haque Chowdhury Shakil and two other people at the Raipura police station on Friday afternoon.
The Officer-in-Charge (CO) of Raipura Police Station, Mohsin Qadir, confirmed the matter, saying: “A case has been registered against two people, including Shakil, in this incident. An attempt is being made to arrest the accused.
He also said that the victim has been kept in police custody.
According to sources in the case, Chhatra League leader Shakil called the student from his home to the Raju Auditorium around 10 p.m. Thursday. Later, Shakil raped her around 11pm. Shakil fled when the people around him came forward yelling at the girl.
Later, the locals called the National Emergency Service at 999 and the Raipura police rushed to the scene and rescued him.
When contacted by the chairman of the Chhatra League of Narsingdi District (acting), Hasibul Hasan Mintu, he said: “The organization will not be held responsible for any crime. Since the case has been closed, if you are found guilty in the legal process, organizational action will be taken against you.
