The police arrested two more people in a case brought in connection with the murder of a woman named Nurjahan in five pieces in Jahajmara village in the Charjabbar union of Subarnachar upazila of Noakhali. They were arrested in the early hours of Friday (October 23) at Charjabbar Union in Subarnachar Upazila.
Those arrested are: The sixth defendant in the case, the son of Md. Ullah, Md. From the Jahajmara area of Charjabbar Union. Ismail (35) and the sixth defendant from the same area, Ullah’s son, Md. Hamid (34).
Seven defendants in the Nurjahan murder case were arrested. Four of them, including Humayun, the son of the deceased, pleaded guilty to murder and gave a confessional statement under section 164 in court.
DB District Police Investigation Officer and Inspector. Zakir Hossain confirmed the information, saying that Hamid and Ismail, who were arrested on Friday afternoon, were brought before the court of Noakhali’s chief judicial magistrate, HM Mosleh Uddin Mizan, seeking a five-day pre-trial detention. The court ordered a pretrial detention hearing next Sunday (October 25) to send the defendant to jail.
On October 6, his son Humayun Kabir and six other associates brutally killed his mother Nurjahan Begum and dispersed the creditors into five pieces in the rice field. Humayun Kabir, the son of the deceased, first filed a case at the police station. According to the case, Subarnachar OC Police (investigation) Ibrahim Khalil was investigated and the question of his son Humayun’s direct involvement in the murder came to light. Police later revealed the mystery of the incident.
Sumon, the husband of the murderer Humayun Kabir and his cousin, made a confessional statement at the Noakhali Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (October 22) afternoon. On the same day, the court set October 25 for the preventive hearing of Kalam alias Mamun, the fourth defendant in the case. Previously, the other two defendants in the case, Nirab and Butcher Nur Islam, gave confessional statements in court.
