Three young men avoided the train accident by showing red shirts in their hands. The incident took place around 4:30 pm on Friday (October 23), 120 feet south of the Kellapara railway bridge at the Santahar and Raninagar stations in Adamdighi, Bogra. Seeing the broken railroad line, the three young men showed the red shirt and stopped the train carrying stones. As a result, the train was saved from the accident thanks to the intelligence of three young men.
Sujaudaula, the conductor of the stone-laden train, said the three young men were signaling to stop the train wearing red vests. Seeing the red cloth, he stopped the train. The three brave young men are Sarwar, son of Jabed Pramanik from Pallagram de Santahar Union of the Upazila, Roni Hossain, son of Nazrul Islam from the same village, and Naeem Hossain, son of Alam.
They said that like every day, they were walking on the train track this afternoon. As they approached the Kellapara railway bridge, they saw a broken railway line. In a few minutes he saw a train coming from the front. They knew the train would stop when they turned red. But even without the red cloth, one was able to save the train from an accident by lifting the shirt it had on.
Locals Ibrahim, Omar Farooq and Lokman said several trains run on the line until noon. The incident occurred suddenly after noon. They said that if these three young men did not know about the matter, there would have been a big accident.
Habibur Rahman, a transportation inspector for Santahar railway station, said that an eight-inch railway line collapsed in the area of the Kellapara railway bridge near the Santahar crossing station on the Parbatipur-Khulna railway line. Upon receiving the news, the repair work on the damaged part began. So the movement of trains is closed from the afternoon until 8 pm. After a two-hour effort to repair the line, the train returned to normal.
Afzal Hossain, a deputy assistant engineer for Santahar Railway, said someone used the barbed line to cause a sabotage incident and that part of the railway line was very old and had broken down at that location. Upon receiving the news, the PWI department has changed the railways in that part.
