A case has been brought against a BCL leader for allegedly raping a young woman in Rajshahi’s Bagha upazila. The girl filed the case against her Thursday night.
The leader’s name is Ribon Ahmed alias Bappi (26). He is the president of Arani Municipal Chhatra League of Bagha Upazila. However, in protest of the case, the BCL organized a human chain in the area on Friday afternoon.
According to the case brief, Ribon Ahmed took the girl to a friend’s house in the last week of July and raped her. From then on, the young woman continued to pressure the BCL leader to get married. But he refused to marry.
However, Robin denied the allegations, telling reporters: “I am the mayoral candidate in the Arani municipality elections. For this reason, a quarter are running various types of propaganda to tarnish my reputation. I am not involved in this. incident.
Bagha Police Officer in Charge (CO) Nazrul Islam said the girl was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for a medical examination.
Meanwhile, locals from the Chhatra League and municipal areas organized a human chain, a protest procession and a street demonstration on Friday claiming that the rape case was false.
