Sadia alias Felli, 10, a domestic worker who was tortured by Rabia Akter Jhumur, wife of Ahsan Habib Shakil, Deputy Secretary General of Sreebardi Upazila of Sherpur, has died.

He died at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital on Friday (October 23) afternoon. Sadia is the daughter of Saiful Islam, a farmer from the Munsipara area of ​​Sreevardi Township.

Shafiqul Islam, head of the police camp at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, told Jago News that the body was being sent to the hospital morgue. The necessary documents of the deceased will be prepared and sent to the Mymensingh Kotwali Model Police Station.

In early September this year, the police arrested Rabeya Akhter Jhumur from the Khamariapara area in Sreevardi Upazila for torturing a maid after receiving a 999 call.

By the way, Rabia Akhter Jhumur brought Sadia in as a maid 11 months ago. From then on, Sadia would be tortured if she made a small mistake at work. Not only was he tortured, they didn’t even give him proper food. If he wanted to go home, the beating would have increased. Even the parents were not allowed to visit. At one point, when Sadia became very ill, the housekeeper Jhumur sent her to her father’s house.

After Sadia went home, her family members called 999 on the night of September 25 to check on her status. After receiving the complaint, the police arrested the defendant Jhumur overnight.

Sadia was admitted to Sherpur Sadar Hospital that night. But since his condition was not good, he was sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital on Saturday (September 27) at noon. After 28 days of treatment there, Sadia succumbed to her injuries on Friday (October 23) afternoon.

At the time, the tortured Sadia said that they did not even give her adequate food. Even if he was tortured like an animal, no one would stop him. They beat him when he wanted to go home.

After being admitted to Sherpur Sadar Hospital, Resident Medical Officer Khairul Kabir Sumon said that the girl had signs of torture, which had been going on for a long time. There are signs of torture all over the body. There are also numerous marks of injuries on sensitive parts of the body. He has water in his stomach.

In this regard, said Sherpur Sreevardi Police Station OC Ruhul Amin Talukder, a case has been filed at Sreevardi Police Station charging Jhumur in this incident. Jhumur has been shown to be detained in that case.
