A 17-year-old girl has been accused of raping her in Raipura, Narsingdi. The victim filed a case against the president of the Upazila Chhatra League, Asadul Haque Chowdhury Shakil, 26, and one of his associates at the Raipura police station on Friday.

The incident took place in a hall of the Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju Hall auditorium in the Serampore Railgate area of upazila at 11 pm Thursday. The victim is a resident of the Nabiabad area of the Alipura union of the Upazila and an X-class student of the Narsingdi College and Technical School.

According to the file and the police sources, the defendant Shakil is the son of Aminul Haque Chowdhury, organizing secretary of the Raipura Upazila Awami League. He is a resident of Srirampur Uttarpara in the Raipura municipal area. Shakil met the girl six months ago. Then a love story developed between the two. At one point, the young woman was called to the Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju Auditorium yesterday afternoon to talk about the marriage. So Shakil called Kazi and told him to get married. Shakil kept the girl in the room of Sumon, the building’s caretaker, until dark. Later that night, he raped the girl by mixing sleeping pills in Speed Can. When the young woman screamed for help, she stopped him with a gun to his head and kept him in the room. Shakil later left the scene when the incident was reported. Later, the police rescued the girl from the scene and took her to the police station.

Shakil’s relatives claimed that Shakil did not go to the Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju Auditorium that night. However, the president of the Raipur Upazila Chhatra League, Asadul Haque Chowdhury, could not be reached for comment, as he tried to block Shakil’s mobile phone more than once.

Raipura Police Deputy Inspector Dev Dulal Dey said the victim had filed a case accusing the BCL president and the building’s caretaker. The girl was sent to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital for a medical examination on Friday morning.
