A seventh-grade student from Patgram upazila madrasa (15) in Lalmonirhat has been raped and is 5 months pregnant. The girl’s mother has filed a case at Patgram Police Station.
Patgram police arrested 35-year-old Nur Islam Babu in a raid on Thursday (October 22) evening. He is the son of Kashem Ali from the Islampur area of the Jongra Union of the Upazila. Babu is the father of two children.
It is known that four or five months ago, a seventh grade madrasa student from the Islampur area, when she went to look for a goat on the side of the train track near her home, her uncle Nur Islam Babu lured her and raped her in a corn field. He raped the girl more than once, threatening to kill her if she told anyone about the incident.
If the physical condition of the raped girl changes, her aunt wants to know. The girl said that her uncle Nur Islam Babu had raped her more than once.
The student said that her uncle Nur Islam Babu used to call her mother and sometimes her mother and make various negative proposals. When I went to look for the goats alone along the train track, he grabbed me by the face and raped me in the cornfield. He threatened to kill me if I told anyone.
The officer in charge of the Patgram (OC) police station Sumon Kumar Mahanta said the girl’s mother had filed a case with the Patgram police station under the Prevention of Abuse of Women and Children Act on Thursday. The defendant has been arrested. He will be sent to jail through the Lalmonirhat court on Friday. The girl’s health exam is in process.
