A seventh-grade madrasa student (15) has been raped in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat. Her family said the girl was five months pregnant at the time of the rape. The girl’s mother has filed a rape case at Patgram Police Station.
Patgram police arrested 35-year-old Nur Islam Babu in a raid on Thursday (October 22) evening. He is the son of Kashem Ali from the Islampur area of the Jongra Union of the Upazila. Babu is the father of two children.
It is known that four or five months ago, a seventh grade madrasa student from the Islampur area, when she went to look for a goat on the side of the train track near her home, her uncle Nur Islam Babu lured her and raped her in a corn field. He raped the girl more than once, threatening to kill her if she told anyone about the incident.
If the physical condition of the raped girl changes, her aunt wants to know. The girl said that her uncle Nur Islam Babu had raped her more than once.
The student said that her uncle Nur Islam Babu used to call her mother and sometimes her mother and make various negative proposals. When I went to look for the goats alone along the train track, he grabbed me by the face and raped me in the cornfield. He threatened to kill me if I told anyone.
Patgram’s Police Officer-in-Charge (CO) Sumon Kumar Mohant confirmed the incident and said the girl would be sent to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital for a medical examination.
