On April 23 last year, the police filed a murder case at Halishahar Police Station in connection with the recovery of the body of an unidentified person. Police arrested Jiban Chakraborty and Durjoy Acharya on April 25 in the incident. Among them, Jivan Chakraborty gave a confessional statement in court. Jivan Chakraborty testified that a man named Dilip Roy was killed in connection with the cannabis incident. But a few days later, the investigator of the case presented Dilip Roy alive in court. The magistrate then released Dilip into his custody and ordered the police to submit an investigative report.

Later, Durjoy Chakraborty applied for bail in Superior Court. On September 29, the High Court ordered the return of Dilip, the investigator with the documents, and the two defendants. According to him, the two defendants Jiban Chakraborty and Durjoy Acharya were presented by the prison authorities on Thursday. Dilip also appeared. The investigating officer brought the documents.

The defendant told the court at one point that they were arrested a long time ago. The police captured them three or four days before they were presented (in court).
