Time Voice Desk: A notice has been sent to the professor of the Department of Criminology at Dhaka University, Professor Ziaur Rahman, for associating the pure expressions of the Muslims ‘Assalamu Alaikum’ and ‘Allah Hafez’ with militancy. At the same time, you have been asked to withdraw your statement and to apologize.
On Thursday (October 22) he said. The notification was sent to Ziaur Rahman by Supreme Court attorney Muhammad Sheikh Omar Sharif on behalf of Muhammad Mahbub Alam. He later confirmed the matter to reporters.
It is known that if you do not remove your insulting and illegal comments on a television show within two days of receiving the notice, you will be prosecuted under the Digital Security Act.
The Supreme Court attorney, Sheikh Muhammad Omar Sharif, said that during a recent talk show on the television channel “Conclusion” of “DBC News” on the topic of “militant misinterpretation of religion”, Muslims were called “Assalamu Alaikum” and “Allah Hafez” in pure pronunciation. Ziaur Rahman, a professor at the University of Dhaka, has linked all this to militancy.
But according to Article 41 of the Constitution of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, every citizen has the right to practice, practice or propagate any religion. “Salam” is an important act of worship in Islam. The exchange of greetings has been instructed many times in the Holy Quran and Hadith.
According to the notice, Ziaur Rahman has associated militancy with giving “greetings” correctly in accordance with the instructions and teachings given by Allah Almighty and the Holy Prophet (PBUH). With these comments, he wants to undermine the fundamental right of Bangladeshi Muslims to properly conduct religious worship. Such comments are religiously hateful. His comments have hurt the religious sentiments or religious values of Muslim citizens.
The notice further stated that Ziaur Rahman had committed a crime under Sections 26 and 29 of the Digital Security Act of 2017 by delivering a religious hate speech on the talk show “Upasanhar” of the television channel “DBC News” .
