Charges were brought against the defendants in the case on January 29, 2012 at the Court for the Suppression of Abuse of Women and Children in Rajshahi. Following the trial, the court sentenced Dilip Khalko to life imprisonment and fined him 50,000 taka on June 12 of that year. The verdict said the victim was 14 years old when she was raped.

Dilip has been incarcerated since the 2012 verdict. In this situation, Dilip requested bail in Superior Court. During the application hearing Thursday, his lawyer said the victim is here. They agreed to marry. If they get bail, they will marry. In this situation, the court ordered the superintendent of the prison to organize the wedding of Karafat.
