Juba League Leader Arrested For Raping Aunt In Chatkhil

Noakhali: Police arrested a Juba League leader named Mojibul Rahman Sharif (32) accused of raping his aunt in Chatkhil upazila of Noakhali.

The victim, a 29-year-old housewife, filed a case against Sharif at the Chatkhil police station on Wednesday (October 21).

Meanwhile, the housewife was sent to Noakhali General Hospital for a medical examination.

The arrested Mojibul Rahman is the son of Rafiqul Islam Khokon from Wati’s house in Noakhala Union District No. 1 under Sharif Upazila. He is the president of the Noakhala Union Juba League. According to police sources, there are seven more cases against Sharif in addition to rape.

According to the lawsuit and the victim’s complaint, the woman is the wife of Sharif’s distant uncle. The housewife was sleeping in her room around 5am on Wednesday (October 21). At that moment, Sharif broke down the door to her veneered room, entered, raped her and came out naked, taking pictures and videos. Sharif also threatened to harm the housewife’s children and family if she told someone about the incident while leaving.

Chatkhil Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Dulal Mia confirmed the matter and said the victim, a housewife, filed a case with Chatkhil Police Station under the Violence Prevention Act against Women and Children. In light of the case, the defendant was arrested at Noakhala Union’s Yasin Bazar at around 3pm.

He added that although Sharif had been arrested, his phone had not yet been recovered. The police will carry out an operation to recover the phone.

Tomorrow he will be sent to the district jail through the judicial court.
