After Begumganj in Noakhali, two housewives, including a pregnant woman, were raped and naked in Senbagh and Chatkhil district. Two female victims have filed a complaint at the police station.
So far, three people have been arrested in the police operation after the case in Senbagh and the defendant in the Chatkhil case have been arrested, police said. An operation is underway to catch the rest of the accused.
Organized rape of pregnant women in Senbagh
The victim filed a case at Senbagh Police Station on Tuesday night alleging organized rape and video recording of a three-month pregnant woman in the Chhatarpaiya area of upazila on October 9.
Senbagh Police Officer in Charge (CO) Abdul Baten Mridha confirmed the information, saying that the woman had named eight people as plaintiffs and filed rape cases against 5-6 unidentified people.
Police arrested Shuvo (17), Rocky (18) and Hasan (18) in a raid on Wednesday morning. However, the main defendant in the Parvez case (25) could not be arrested.
According to the file, on October 9, Parvez, the younger brother of the owner of her husband’s minibus, went to the woman’s house with 10-12 companions. Parvez recorded the video after the rape and threatened his accomplices. The defendant’s relatives prevented him from filing a complaint at the police station saying that the incident would be resolved.
There are reports that if the local president of Chhatarpaiya UP is informed, he assures that he will bring the matter to justice. However, the UP president denied the allegations, saying, “When the woman and her brother-in-law informed me about the matter on Tuesday afternoon, I advised them to resort to the law.”
OC Abdul Baten Mridha said: “The police are carrying out an operation to arrest the main defendant and others. However, the victim’s husband has not been found since the incident.

Police arrested a man accused of raping and stripping a housewife in Chatkhil. Defendant Mujibul Rahman Sharif (32) was arrested at the local market in Noakhala Union on Wednesday, said Anwarul Islam, officer in charge of Chatkhil Police Station.
Police said Sharif was arrested this morning on charges of raping and exposing an expat’s wife while holding her hostage at gunpoint. The victim filed a rape case at the Chatkhil Police Station at noon. The arrested Sharif is the chairman of the expired committee of the Juba Union Noakhala League in Sharif upazila.
OC said. Anwarul Islam said there were six cases against the arrested Sharif at the Chatkhil police station on charges of weapons, preparation for robbery, fighting and other terrorist activities. He will be presented in court on Thursday morning.
