Chatkhil police arrested Juba League Union President Mujibur Rahman Sharif, 30, of Chatkhil de Noakhali, on Wednesday afternoon, accused of raping his 23-year-old expatriate wife. According to the rape complaint filed at the Chatkhil Police Station, the terrorist Sharif broke down the door of Nur Alam’s house at around 5 am on Wednesday morning. Inside the house, the expat went to his wife’s bedroom, detained her at gunpoint, took her hostage, stripped her naked and raped her. The two raped children were awake, but their mother was raped in front of them. At that moment, some armed cadres from Sharif’s forces began to guard the house. No one in the house approached out of fear of them. Later, she informed the people of the house about the matter and a case was filed at the Chatkhil Police Station under the Women’s Torture Act.
According to the locals, although there were many cases against Sharif in the police station and court, including rape, extortion, kidnapping, tender bazaar, the police did not arrest him for that long due to mysterious reasons. Previously, he was charged with rape at the police station, but a section of the Upazila Juba League protested against him by holding a human chain in Chatkhil. The locals are hostages of Sharif and members of his forces in Chatkhil South, including the Noakhola Union. Nobody dares to protest against them.
The rapist told reporters at the police station that Sharif broke down the door of her house, entered the house, stopped the gun, raped her naked in front of her two children and fled. When a case was registered in this regard, the police arrested him at noon.
The coordinator of the Chatkhil Upazila Juba League and the Mayor of Chatkhil Municipality, Mohammad Ullah, said that the Chatkhil Upazila Juba League called an emergency meeting in the afternoon and expelled him from the party. “There is no place for any unprincipled leader in the party. We are also demanding exemplary punishment for this incident,” he added.
Chatkhil OC Anwarul Islam Police Station said Sharif was arrested in a midday raid on rape charges. The victim will be sent to Noakhali General Hospital for a medical examination. An operation is underway to arrest Sharif’s associates. You will be questioned. There are eight cases against him at the police station for various crimes.
ASM Ibrahim, a deputy from Chatkhil in Noakhali, said that the rapist could not have party identity. He strongly condemned the incident and demanded exemplary punishment. At the same time, he asked that his godparents submit to the law.
