Potatoes are sold at higher prices, action will be taken

Dhaka: Potatoes are not sold in the wholesale and retail markets at the prices set by the government. In other words, potatoes are sold at higher prices in the wholesale and retail markets than before.

The image was found on Wednesday (October 21) after visiting various markets in the capital, including Kawanbazar.

According to the traders, they have not yet received potatoes at the prices set by the government. Potatoes should be sold at higher prices, since they were bought at higher prices before. However, they also think that the market situation will be controlled if they get potatoes at the price set by the government in two or four days.

Afzal, the owner of the Bismillah Chamber of Commerce in Kawanbazar, told banglanews that he has had no potatoes in his garden for the past four days. I am contacting to bring potatoes at the price announced by the government. If I get it, I’ll sell it at that price.

Meanwhile, buyers complain that they still have to buy potatoes from the wholesale market at 44 Tk. The price set by the government has not affected the market.

Hotelier Enayet Hossain told banglanews that he was still buying potatoes at the market at Tk 44 today (Wednesday). I bought it on Tuesday (Oct 20) for 48 rupees. We couldn’t buy potatoes at the price set by the government.

Manzoor Mohammad Shahriar, Deputy Director of the Dhaka Divisional Office of the National Department for Consumer Rights Protection, said: “We do not want to harm traders.” However, the potatoes to be sold from today must be sold at the price set by the government. If someone goes beyond the price set by the government, legal action will be taken.
