Criteria for obtaining a firearms license:

- With permission, the applicant can import weapons or buy weapons from a national dealer.
- One person can apply for a maximum of two firearm licenses
How to apply for a license
To obtain a firearms license, a citizen must pick up the application form from the Department of Firearms and Licensing at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in the district where their permanent address is located.
In this case, the special branch or SB branch of the police investigates and collects the applicant’s information and makes a report.
It is then sent to the Ministry of the Interior after approval by the Deputy Commissioner or District Magistrate.
If the Home Office issues a letter of no objection, the deputy commissioner issues a firearms license together with the applicant.
In this case, along with the application form, a valid citizenship certificate, a photocopy of the DNI, a photocopy of the tax certificate, six passport-size photographs and a license fee must be presented.
Rules for the use of weapons.
The latest ‘Firearms License, Renewal and Use Policy 2018’ on firearms talks about the use of personal firearms for self defense only.
However, the law generally discourages individual firearm licensing.
There are some rules regarding when the owner of a firearm can fire a ‘trial by fire’.
The Deputy Secretary of the Interior Ministry, Mohammad Munim Hasan, said that the “litmus test” cannot be carried out without permission from the authorities.
The owner of the firearm may “test the fire” in the presence of members of the public force on the recently purchased weapon.
