In Chittagong’s Lohagara Sadar Upazila, a cocktail attack occurred on a magistrate’s car during the Parishad Union (UP) elections.
The event took place at noon on Tuesday (October 20) at the electoral college of the Najibunnesa Government Primary School in Pavilion 2 of the Sadar Union.
According to local sources, Executive Magistrate Nilufa Yasmin Chowdhury came to the scene after receiving news of a false vote when occupying the center of the Najibunnesa Government Primary School. The criminals threw two cocktails at his car. Said the driver. Shahid (30) was seriously injured.
Meanwhile, while visiting the North Amirabad School Electoral College in Amirabad Union District 5, a cocktail party was held against the car of Magistrate Muhammad Enamul Hasan. Nobody was hurt.
Confirming the attack, Magistrate Nilufa Yasmin Chowdhury told Jago News: “I went to the scene after receiving information about irregularities in the electoral college of the Najibunnesa Government Primary School. At that moment, the thugs took aim at my car and threw two cocktails in a row. Although I was unscathed from the attack, the driver was seriously injured.
In addition, two people were injured when the president’s supporters and member candidates clashed at the Amirabad Sufia Alia Madrasa center in the Amirabad No.1 district of Lohagara upazila. Voting was temporarily suspended at this time.
Meanwhile, three people were injured in a clash at the Shovanchhari JMC public primary school polling station in the Suabil union of Fatiabchhari Upazila. They were admitted to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMC).
The injured are- Md. Ali Akbar (50), Md. Emajuddin (32) and Md. Jihad (20). Among them, Ali Akbar and Emajuddin are in critical condition.
The general and by-elections of 11 Union Parishads of six Chittagong upazilas have been completed. Voting begins at 9 am on Tuesday (October 20). Ends at 5pm.
