Archaeologists have unearthed an image of the giant cat, over 36 meters high, in the Nazca Lines mountains in Peru. The image is believed to have been carved at least 2000 years ago.
Finding such an image on the Nazca Lines is not new. The Nazca Lines have already been honored as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in various art exhibitions on various hills in the area.
However, this image had not been seen before on the hill where the image of the cat was found. Archaeologists believe that the image was obscured by erosion from a steep slope.
And since there is no way to climb the mountain, this image remained invisible. The Peruvian Ministry of Culture said last week that the image was seen recently while working to build a highway in part of the sierra.
Archaeologists estimate that the cat was painted between 200 and 100 BC. C. It was probably painted during the Paracas era in Peru. The paintings on the mountain were characteristic of the Peruvians of that time.
About 250 miles southeast of the Peruvian capital, Lima, the Nazca Lines cover a vast area of desert between the cities of Nazca and Palpa. The first site was discovered by archaeologists in 1928.
Previously, images of monkeys, hummingbirds and trees were found in the area. Finally the photo of the cat was found there. And it is also believed to be older than all previous images.
