According to the advice of the doctors of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMC), the father took the child born at 6 months and 18 days, that is, at 26 weeks, dead and buried. But in the last stage of the excavation of the grave, when the boy began to cry, Father Yasin took him back to the hospital.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital has formed an investigation committee. The committee was headed by Manisha Banerjee, a senior lecturer in the neonatal unit.
At a press conference on Tuesday (October 20), the head of the committee said: “In our country, it is not possible to save a child under 28 weeks old. This baby was born at 26 weeks. We are doing everything possible to save him. Now he is much better than before. But still alarming. They are giving him oxygen and antibiotics. After a day or two, food can be given little by little. All these babies can get worse at any time. a miracle, you will all pray for him.
“The baby was born prematurely at 26 weeks,” said Brigadier General AKM Nasir Uddin, director of DMCH.
Regarding the investigation committee, he said: ‘The baby did not vibrate after delivery. Our doctors were not negligent. They were kept under observation for 45 minutes, after which they were pronounced dead without any vibration. Since the child has moved to the cemetery, the responsibility cannot be avoided. The four-member investigation committee has made some recommendations, we have also made some recommendations.
The DMEC director said: “When his father brought the baby to the hospital, the emergency department doctor sent him to the neonatal unit. Some people there, including Wardboy, told him not to keep it here, to take it somewhere else. We had to wait like this for about an hour.
“Action will be taken against those who have neglected it,” he told reporters. Not all seats in the neonatal unit are empty. Even then, when I heard the matter, I immediately called the head of that department. Then he somehow changed another child and admitted this child. ‘
Meanwhile, the bus driver Yasin, the father of the newborn, took his wife Shahinur Begum, who was six months and 18 days pregnant, to Dhamek Hospital on Wednesday (October 14). He was admitted to room 212 of Gaini’s apartment.
Doctors said her blood pressure was very high. If the baby is not born, his blood pressure will not drop. After accessing the doctors, attempts were made to get him to the delivery room that night for a normal delivery. As there was no delivery, they kept him in ward 110. After two days of trying with the doctors there, yesterday morning he felt pain again. Then his wife gave birth to a girl around 5.45am.
Doctors said the baby was dead. The hospital nanny put the dead boy under the bed and asked him to bury it somewhere.
Around 8 a.m., the newborn’s father, Yasin, took the newborn to the Azimpur cemetery for burial. Since they could not pay the government fee of 1,500 taka, they took Rayerbazar’s intellectuals to the cemetery on his advice. After paying a fee of 500 rupees and some rewards, the grave was dug for the stillborn newborn. At the end of the excavation of the grave, the baby cries. He found nothing anywhere and then he noticed the newborn lying next to him. Then he opened the package and saw the baby move and cry. The newborn was rushed to Dhamek Hospital and admitted to the neonatology ward.
