Casino emperor at court, slogans from leaders demanding his release

The expelled president of the Dhaka Metropolitan South Juba League, Casino Emperor Ismail Chowdhury Samrat, was brought before the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Court of Judges. His workers chant slogans demanding his unconditional release from this morning.

He was presented in court at 10 a.m. on Tuesday (October 20). He was then taken to the court jail. The day has been set to press charges in the drug and weapons case against the emperor.

It should be noted that after the campaign against the casino began last year, rumors about the emperor began to circulate. After the start of the operation, some high-profile people were arrested but the emperor was not found. Among these, he was prohibited from leaving the country. His arrest was reported on the night of October 5 last year.

The next day, October 8, the RAB arrested the emperor as he was hiding in the Kunjushripur village of Alkara Union in Comilla’s Chauddagram. Arman was also arrested along with him. They were later taken to Dhaka and interrogated.

At 1:40 PM on October 8, a RAB team led by RAB Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam broke the lock on the Bhuiyan Trade Center in Kakrail and entered the emperor’s office. The executive magistrate ordered that he be sent to jail with six months in prison for having animal skins in his office. In addition, RAB-1 became the plaintiff and filed two cases against the emperor at the Ramna Model Police Station. The plaintiff in both cases is DAD Abdul Khaleq of RAB-1.

On November 6, Shekhar Chandra Mallick, RAB-1 Deputy Inspector, filed a charge sheet in the weapons case at the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrates Court. On the charge sheet, the investigating officer mentioned that he was unable to show any valid document of the firearm recovered from the emperor. The crime against him was initially proven, as he kept unlicensed weapons in his custody and control.

RAB-1 deputy inspector Abdul Halim filed a charge sheet against Ismail Chowdhury Samrat and Enamul Haque Arman in a case brought under the Narcotics Act at the Ramna police station in the capital on December 9 last year.
