The government’s decision on this year’s annual exam at secondary-level educational institutions will be known on Wednesday. The Minister of Education, Dr. Dipu Moni will offer a virtual press conference on the subject at 12 noon.
Mohammad Abul Khair, information and public relations officer at the Ministry of Education, confirmed the matter.
All educational institutions in the country have been closed since March 16 due to the coronavirus. In some cases, however, classes are taken online and on television. In such circumstances, this year’s Primary Education Completion (PEC), Ibtedayi Completion (EEC), High School Certificate (JSC), Junior Entry Certificate (JDC) and Upper Secondary (HSC) exams have been canceled. As all educational institutions in the country have been closed for 6 consecutive months, there has been uncertainty about the annual exam. According to the latest announcement, educational institutions are closed until October 31.
According to the Ministry of Education, they are considering not taking annual exams in schools this year. Instead, alternate plans have been made to assess students and promote them to the next class. The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has almost finalized the decision to move children from pre-primary and primary to the next class without any exam.
