When the chief deputy general secretary, Rizvi, fell ill, the organization secretary Prince was asked to temporarily assume additional responsibilities at the central office.
The directive was given in a letter signed by BNP general secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday.
After a heart attack, Rizvi is now receiving treatment at Labaid Hospital in Dhanmondi, Dhaka.

“Until he (Rizvi) recovers, you (Syed Emran Saleh Prince) are asked to temporarily take over the BNP headquarters as an additional party responsibility,” the letter read.

Prince also held a position in the party’s office on Monday.
He told bdnews24.com: “I met with Senior Deputy General Secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and briefed him on the matter. I started working at Naya Paltan on the instructions of the Acting Chairman of the party, Tareq Rahman.”
Prince is the organizing secretary for BNP’s Mymensingh division. Before that, he served as the party’s joint head office and co-publicity secretary.
