Within hours of recovering the body of 8-year-old Sanjidar from an abandoned bathroom near Harinarayanpur Kachari Math in Kushtia Sadar Upazila on Sunday night, police arrested 14-year-old Fupu Sumna, involved in the murder. Meanwhile, shortly after the arrest, the killer confessed to killing Sanjida.
Following the autopsy on Monday, the boy’s body was buried in his village and the murderer Sumna was sent to jail by the court. The father of the deceased child is Sohag Hossain. And the killer is Sumna Sohag Hossain’s own sister. The boy disappeared Sunday afternoon.
According to locals and the police, Sanjida left the house at noon and did not return, so her father, Sohag Hossain, started using microphones in the market since the afternoon. Later in the evening, some local residents saw the body of a child dumped in an abandoned bathroom next to the Kachari camp. Upon receiving the news, the Kushtia Islamic University police recovered his body and arrested Sumna involved in the murder.
Kushtia Police Superintendent SM Tanvir Arafat said his only killer, Fupu Sumna, was arrested shortly after the body of a boy named Sanjida was recovered from an abandoned bathroom. Shortly after her arrest, Sumna confessed to police that she had killed Sanjida after learning of her love affair with a young man from the neighborhood. He has been sent to jail by the court.
