State Minister for Culture KM Khalid MP said: “Work is under way to restore the original ancestral home of the nation’s father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. It was renovated and modernized several times. From there we are working to bring it back. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is on the matter.
He said this after paying tribute at the Tungipara Nation Father’s grave in Gopalganj on Monday (October 19).
He added: ‘A cultural academy will be established in Tungipara to spread healthy cultural practices. There will be all art departments and libraries. The design is already prepared. In other parts of the country, even if it is done on Khas land, a cultural academy will be established in Tungipara through land acquisition.
Previously, he paid tribute to Bangabandhu with flowers. Later, he recited Fateha and participated in special prayers for the souls of the slain Bangabandhu members and their family. Later he visited Bangabandhu’s ancestral home and inquired about the progress of the renovation work.
Local leaders of the Awami League, including his wife Sohela Akter, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Kazi Shahidul Islam were present at the time.
