Police arrested 48-year-old Abdur Rashid, a teacher at Mujahidpur Nurani Madrasa in Joypurhat’s Sadar upazila for allegedly harassing four children.
On Sunday evening, the father of a minor victim filed a case with the Joypurhat Sadar Police Station. Later that night, the accused madrasa teacher from Mujahidpur village was arrested.
The arrested madrasa teacher is Abdur Rashid, son of Nayamuddin from Mujahidpur village in upazila.
According to the children’s parents, the four students went to Mujahidpur Nurani Madrasa on Sunday morning to learn the Quran.
Master Abdur Rashid took the four children to a room in the madrasa and harassed them. When local people came to the scene yelling at the children, teacher Abdur Rashid fled.
The Joypurhat Sadar Police Chief confirmed the incident. Shahriar Khan.
He said one of the children’s parents filed a case against Madrasa teacher Abdur Rashid under the Prevention of Abuse of Women and Children Act on Sunday night. Later that night, the accused teacher was arrested at his home.
The matter will be seriously investigated and appropriate legal action will be taken next time.
