Barat successfully tested BrahMos, a faster-than-sound supersonic cruise missile. The Indian Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) said on Sunday that the missile fired from the Indian Navy’s stealth destroyer ‘INS Chennai’ in the Arabian Sea was able to hit a predetermined target with precision.

Citing sources in the Indian Defense Ministry, the country’s popular media Anandabazar said that the missile, which has three times the speed of sound, has an initial range of 290 km. But it can be increased up to 400 km. DRDO President G Satish Reddy thanked the company scientists and the Indian Navy for the successful testing of BrahMos on this day. Congratulations also came from Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.

There are three separate versions of the BrahMos missile, a joint venture between India and Russia. For land, navy and air force. Each version has been tested several times. The Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter jet of the Indian Air Force uses the aeronautical version of the BrahMos.
