Medical leaders have expressed their displeasure at the presence of the Minister of Health for appointing officials from administrative cadres in various health sector institutions and neglecting doctors in decision-making. They complained to the Health Minister, saying that the administration was replacing the doctors.
They expressed their displeasure at a program titled ‘Role of Surgeons in the Covid-19 Epidemic in the Context of Bangladesh’ organized by the Bangladesh Society of Surgeons at a hotel in the capital on Sunday (October 18). They also warned that if these problems are not solved, they will give programs in the future. “We have warned before,” they said. But the administration is not listening. If the unwanted meddling of the administration in the health sector is not stopped, the country’s medical community will be forced to bet on a tough move.
Doctors claimed that there were 113 additional secretaries in the administration under Pakistani law of 1962, and currently 810 have been promoted as additional secretaries. The health sector is stepping in to deploy them. This is a unique example of bureaucracy.
At the same time, doctors criticized Health Secretary Abdul Mannan’s comments on the vaccine. They mention that the Oxford vaccine will produce 10 doses. The information to bring 30 million doses to Bangladesh from there is incorrect.
Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad (Swachip) President and member of the National Advisory Committee on Covid-19 Prof. Dr. Iqbal Arslan said that governments around the world have consulted with doctors to treat covid. But officials in the Bangladesh administration cadre are trying to “control science as well.”
He is not the only one, the President of the Bangladesh Medical Association-BMA, Dr. Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, Secretary General. Ihteshamul Haque Chowdhury Dulal, Swachip Secretary General Prof. MA Aziz also expressed his anger. The four medical leaders opposed the unjustified intervention of the administration in the health sector, expressing their outrage. They say it is very unfortunate that health scientists want to control the administration. The health sector administration wants to take over, it is trying to take over.
Professor Dr. Iqbal Arslan said that the management cadre is trying to implement its own imaginary decision ignoring the advice of scientists. The Parliamentary Health Commission should play a role in this regard.
“Political leaders will decide the policy with expert advice and administration officials will implement it,” he said.
Professor Iqbal Arslan said that the bureaucrats remained in the British regime. Those who were deputy tax collectors at the time later became district commissioners and then deputy commissioners. And as deputy commissioners, they are trying to control everything. All of this is being done with the mindset of controlling. Kovid is trying to get another chance during the epidemic.
He further said that unscrupulous pimps are coming into the country with the opportunity for extortion. The Bangladesh Medical Association will carry out the same fight in the future that it has carried out in the past.
It is the responsibility of government officials to follow government orders and advice to the letter, not folly, said the BMA secretary general. Ihteshamul Haque Chowdhury.
He urged the Minister of Health to try to understand the language of the doctors.
The Secretary General of the BMA told the Director of the Central Pharmacy (CMSD) that his position is a position under the Department of Health. An additional secretary has been assigned here, but despite serving under the CEO, he did not attend the meeting and did not follow his instructions, he said.
Dr. Ihteshamul Haque Chowdhury said: ‘It is not for us to decide whether the director of CMSD is an Additional Secretary or not. He has been incorporated as a director, so he has to attend the meeting of the general director. Otherwise quit the job, who told you to come here. Don’t be bold. Doctors protested when the senior management officer was appointed to the post (CMSD director), but were not heard at the time.
He added that on Monday a meeting of high-level doctors from the country had been convened at BMA Bhaban at the initiative of BMA and Swachip. Next week, there will be an exchange of views with other professional organizations, including the Krishibid Institution, the Institution of Engineers, and weekly meetings with the leaders of professional organizations in different districts of the country. Then the next show will be announced.
Secretary General Swachip said. MA Aziz said on the occasion that new positions have been created in different places to accommodate 610 new people. Sitting in the ministry, they (administrative staff) are conspiring.
In addition, he mentioned: “Doctors are working in different departments of the health department. But administrative people are being inserted. Nursing, family planning has been given to its people. I can hear that there are plans to staff administrative staff in drug administration where technical manpower is required. They are taking care not to create our work environment.
BMA President Dr. When addressing Health Minister Zahid Malek Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin said another attempt was being made to put a knife to the back of Bangladeshi doctors.
Health Minister Zahid Malek said he would not do anything that could harm the interests of doctors. Your fears about the post title will be considered. I want to assure you that I will not do anything to harm medical care or the interests of doctors. You will receive my full support. I appreciate your cooperation in the way you are working.
