Section 33 of the Padma Bridge could be completed on Monday (October 19) if the weather is favorable and there are no technical complications. This will make visible 4,950 meters or about 5 kilometers of the bridge.
Span 1-C will be placed on piers 3 and 4 of the bridge at the end of Mawa. This period will be located on the eighth day of period 32. If all goes well, the section can be installed in one day. However, if the weather on the Padma River is unfavorable, the span installation process can take two days.
This information was confirmed Sunday night (October 18) by the bridge’s executive engineer and project manager (main bridge) Dewan Md. Abdul Quader.
It is known that there are three openings in pillars 4, 5, 6 and 7 at the end of Mawa. A section 1-C will be installed with this module. Meanwhile, caution has been exercised when navigating from Pier No. 3 to Pier No. 6 of the bridge. The Padma Bridge Authority has asked stakeholders to take measures to prevent ships from moving during the installation of the span.
According to sources close to the Padma Bridge, the 3,600-ton Tian E floating crane is located near the construction yard. At 8:30 am, the crane will transport the 150-meter-long gray stretch weighing 3,140 tons. Engineers are optimistic that the span will be installed in one day, as the distance from the construction yard to the dock is not very long.
On the other hand, if section 33 is installed on the Padma Bridge, the work of installing 6 sections will remain. After placing section 33, section 34 (section 2-a) on pier 7 and 8 on October 25, section 35 (section 2-b) on pier 6 and 9 on October 30, section 36 at dock 2 and 3 on November 4 (section 1) -B), section 36 (section 2-C) on November 11, dock 9 and 10, section 36 (section 1-a) at dock 1 and 2 on November 16, section 39 (section 2-d) at dock 10 and 11 on November 23), section 40 (section 2-e) at dock 11 and 12 on December 2 and the last section number 41 (section 2-f) will settle at docks number 12 and 13 on December 10. As a result, the entire bridge will be visible on December 10.
Construction of the 6.15 km long, double-decker Padma Bridge began in December 2014.
The overall progress of the project, which was made at a cost of Tk 30,193.39 crore, is 61.50 percent and the financial progress is 7.55 percent. The actual progress of river governance work is 84.50 percent. The total expenditure as of September 30, 2020 has been Rs 23,798.24 million.
