The local administration has closed the Siddheswari Darul Quran Al Arabiyah Madrasa in Muradnagar upazila of Comilla after composing a song to the melody of the national anthem of Bangladesh and singing it with children. The Upazila administration and local police officials made the decision after speaking with the madrasa committee around 2 p.m. on Sunday (October 18). Sources from the Muradnagar upazila administration and police confirmed the information overnight.
The Muradnagar administration said the decision was made after a story about students singing “their own national anthem” in the style of the Bangladeshi national anthem, published in the Bengali Tribune on Saturday (October 18). Administration officials said the music was sung by children. No approval was obtained for the creation of a madrasa.
The officer in charge of the Muradnagar police station, Nahid Ahmed, told the Bangla Tribune on Sunday evening: “We went there in the presence of the upazila administration around 2pm on Sunday. The accusation against him is that they have done it with children. And the madrasa is not allowed. The Upazila administration is watching them, ONE was. The person who created the music is a paid director. We have spoken with the committee of the madrasa.
When asked, Abhishek Das, executive director of Muradnagar upazila de Comilla, told the Comilla correspondent of the Bangla Tribune: “A madrasa teacher in Muradnagar has made his own music by copying the national anthem. The news from this Bangla Tribune online news portal came to our attention. Following the news, the copyright office was contacted and the madrassa was declared closed on Sunday. However, the accused professor could not be found at the madrasa. On his mobile phone, he was asked to delete his own copied music from social media and to apologize to the nation through another video.
Abhishek Das further said that the madrasa is neither approved nor registered. The general matter has been reported to the Deputy Commissioner of the Comilla.
It can be mentioned that Mufti Najibullah Afsari, director of Siddheswari Darul Quran Al Arabiyah Madrasa in Muradnagar Upazila of Comilla, composed ‘own national anthem’ in the style of the national anthem of Bangladesh composed by Rabindranath Tagore. More recently, he created this music and sang it with the children and adolescents of the institution under his direction. He has also promoted his Facebook and YouTube ID. In the video, he wrote: “National Anthem of Darul Quran Al Arabiya Madrasa”.
