Jessore: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sent greetings and gifts to West Bengal’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the occasion of Durga Puja, the largest religious festival for Hindus Bengalis.
The prime minister’s gift items were shipped to India through the Benapole checkpoint at noon on Sunday (October 18).
Tonight, Tawfiq Hasan, Deputy High Commissioner of the Bangladesh High Commissioner in Calcutta, went to the office of the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Nabanna, and handed him the gift items.
Benapole CA-F representative Mostafizur Rahman Rubel told banglanews that he took the gifts sent to Benapole’s chief minister from the Benapole checkpoint around 12 noon and delivered them to the Petrapole checkpoint in the other side.
Ahsan Habib, Officer-in-Charge (CO) of the Benapole Immigration Checkpost, told banglanews that the gifts from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina were sent to Benapole through Ataur Rahman, Protocol Director for the Prime Minister’s Office. Alam Hossain, Deputy Secretary to the First Secretary of the Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner in Calcutta, was already in Petrapole to receive him.
The Deputy Commissioner of the Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner in Kolkata, BM Jamal Hossain (Politician), told local reporters that the gifts sent by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in Kolkata in the evening and arrived at the Office of the Chief Minister of Bengal Western.
