The police have recovered the body of a woman named Yasmin Akter Soma (32) from a residential hotel in Motijheel in the capital. Police recovered the woman’s body from room 226 of the Insaf Residential Hotel in Motijheel on Saturday night. The body was subsequently sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMC) morgue for autopsy. The relatives of the deceased affirmed that it was a premeditated murder.

Motijheel (SI) Police Deputy Inspector Abdul Jalil confirmed the matter. He said: ‘The victim had a scarf wrapped around his neck. There were black spots on the neck when the body was recovered. The exact cause of death will be known after receiving the autopsy report.

Meanwhile, Nasreen Begum, the deceased’s sister, and Alauddin Faraji, the deceased’s brother, arrived at the Dhaka Medical College morgue on Sunday afternoon and identified the body. They said that the husband of the late Yasmin Akter Soma was called Abul Kalam. They have a 10-year-old boy named Safayet. They lived in a house in Narinda in the capital.

Six or seven months ago, Soma saw Abul Kalam’s immoral relationship with a maid. This created a conflict between them. Later, the husband moved in with their son.

Soma moved to Savar, the home of his sister Nasreen, a few days ago. They said that Soma went to Dhaka from Savar last Friday morning to look for clothes. His mobile phone was found turned off after that night. It was no longer found.

Citing hotel authorities, SI Abdul Jalil said Abul Kalam and his son went up to room 234 of the hotel on Monday. He told hotel authorities that his wife was angry and had come looking for him. Later, they found his wife and Abdul Jalil changed rooms and went to room 226 with his son. Later, Yasmin Akhter Soma went to the hotel. At one point, Abdul Jalil fled with his son. Last Saturday night, the hotel boy went to clean his room and found Yasmin lying down. When the matter was reported to the hotel authorities, they referred the matter to the police.

The police officer said: ‘Then we went and recovered the girl’s body and sent it to the morgue. Then the identity of the woman was not found. His relatives arrived at the morgue on Sunday afternoon and identified the body.
