The Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has detained a defendant in the murder of four members of the same family in Kalaroa upazila of Satkhira. CID senior ASP said. Jisan confirmed the matter on Sunday afternoon.
He said the person arrested was identified as 32-year-old Raihanur Rahman alias Rehanul. He was arrested in Kalaroa in Satkhira on Saturday night. When the arrested defendant was placed in pre-trial detention in Satkhira court on Sunday, the court granted him a five-day pre-trial detention.
The CID official further said that the defendant’s home is in the Khalsi village of Kalaroa upazila de Satkhira. The case is currently being investigated by the CID.
Incidentally, on October 15, four members of the same family, including a husband, a wife, a son and a daughter, were strangled to death in the village of Khalsi in Kalaroa upazila. The deceased were identified as Shahinur Rahman, 40, the son of Shahjahan Ali from Khalsi village, his wife Sabina Khatun, 30, their nine-year-old son Siam Hossain Mahi and their six-year-old daughter Tasnim. In this incident, the killers left another six-month-old baby of the Shahinur-Sabina couple next to her mother’s bloodied body.
Later that day, the Deputy Commissioner for Satkhira, HM Mostafa Kamal, visited the site at noon and assumed overall responsibility for the surviving child Maria. Shahinur’s mother-in-law, who was killed in the incident, filed a murder case with the Kalaroa police station on Thursday.
