The body was recovered from the North Nalbila area of ​​the Kalarmarchhara union in Maheshkhali upazila on Saturday night, the Maheshkhali OC Abdul Hai police station said.

The deceased was identified as Afroza Begum, 24, daughter of Mohammad Ishaq from the Punichhara area of ​​the Hwanak union. Her husband Rakib Hasan Bappi is a professor at the Badarkhali Degree College in Chakaria Upazila. He is the son of Hasan Bashir from the North Nalbila area.

The OC said Afroza Begum disappeared from her father-in-law’s home on October 12. His father, Mohammad Ishaq, filed a complaint against Rakib Hasan Bappi and four other people.

Apart from his relatives, the police searched several places but could not find Afroz.

Later, the police confirmed that Afroza’s body was buried in the courtyard of her father-in-law’s house. Police recovered the half-decomposed body from the ground Saturday night, the OC said.

He said Afroza married Rakib nine months ago. This is your second marriage. Afroza’s first husband died. On the other hand, Rakib Hasan Bappi divorced his first wife and married Afroza.

“But after the marriage, the divorced wife contacted Bappi again. Afroza and Bappi were arguing about this. “

Abdul Hai said that his relatives alleged that Rakib used to torture Afroza inhumanely. The people have been arbitrated before.

The body of the deceased has been sent to the morgue at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for an autopsy, the OC said.
