BNP candidate Salahuddin Ahmed has demanded the resignation of the government and the Electoral Commission and re-election by rejecting the results alleging irregularities in the by-elections in the Dhaka-5 constituency. He also announced a human network program in the constituency on Sunday (October 18) at 2 pm to protest the irregularities.

Saladin Ahmed, a candidate with the symbol of a sheaf of rice, made the announcement at a press conference at his main electoral office on Saturday night (October 16).

Earlier, voting began at 9 am in this district. Leave until 5 pm. Besides Saladin Ahmed, five others participated in the elections. Kazi Monirul Islam fought for the symbol of the ship on behalf of the ruling Awami League.

After inspecting the Ideal Jatrabari College and School Center at 10:15 am during the elections, Salahuddin Ahmed complained to journalists that BNP agents had been evicted from 95% of the centers. The Electoral Commission has not been able to hold fair elections to date.

“I have been harassed in various ways by terrorists from the Awami League since the first day of these elections,” he told a news conference. Even when I went to pray in the mosque, I was prevented from doing so. My birthright is to go to any mosque in this area and pray and ask for their votes and prayers. But I was not allowed to do that. Whenever we went to the media, people responded spontaneously and that’s when the Awami terrorists pounced on us.

The BNP candidate said: “Awami terrorists have tortured our leaders and activists in various ways.” You have seen that our two sister agents have been humiliated and expelled from Donia University College. In addition, another agent of ours was attacked and expelled from RK Mission Chowdhury School. They have even handcuffed him.

Denouncing the presidents, the BNP candidate said: “Our agents have been evicted in almost all the centers.” The centers where the agents have entered have also been evicted. But the presidents took no action. We repeatedly informed the returning officer, but he took no action. Through you we reject the illegitimate election and demand re-election.

Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP Organizing Secretary Tanvir Ahmed Robin, Jatrabari Thana BNP Organizing Secretary Mizanur Rahman Bhandari, and other leaders and workers were present at the press conference.
